The Leathams Larder partnership was founded by brothers Mark and Oliver Leatham as a game and specialist supplier.
Project Brief
Leathams required a new high speed freezer door to improve temperature control and safety at its warehouse. Prior to using our product, Leatham’s was using transparent PVC strip curtains that resulted in heat loss.
As the nearby loading bay can reach up to 30° in the summer, the temperature difference between one side of the freezer and the other was very high. With hot air on one side and dry frozen air on the other, this created moisture and ice buildup.
Consequently, water from the ice buildup around these strip curtains was dripping down, creating a slip hazard. The subsequent condensation also reduced visibility for forklift and pallet drivers, potentially leading to an accident.
Our Solution: AUTO-FREEZER
To improve temperature control and safety, we specified the AUTO-FREEZER high speed freezer door.
Crucially, the AUTO-FREEZER door includes two flexible curtains and a hot air blower that prevent condensation and ice buildup. The blower keeps warm air flowing between the curtains, helping to maintain a consistent internal temperature and creating an insulated barrier.
This is further enhanced by the heated frame and motor that surround the door. Combined with the blower, they prevent moisture and keep humidity away.
Other key features of the AUTO-FREEZER include superior sealing and a fast action, both of which support a stable internal temperature.
The Result
The installation of the AUTO-FREEZER high speed freezer door provided Leathams with an efficient solution to its challenges.
By replacing the PVC strip curtains, the new door has eliminated the dangerous ice buildup and condensation that were causing slip and visibility hazards. Furthermore, the heated elements and superior sealing have ensured consistent temperature control and a safer working environment for staff.
This successful project demonstrates how a door upgrade can significantly improve both operational efficiency and safety in cold storage warehouse facilities.
